Junior middleweight Michel Soro returned to action with a battering of Hector David Saldivia in La Palestre in Le Cannet, France. Soro captures the vacant WBA International title. Soro dropped Saldivia in the second and then knocked him out in the third round a right hand bomb.
Soro (28-1-1, 18 KOs) has not fought since June 20 of last year, when he knocked out Emanuele Blandamura in the eighth round. The time spent away from the ring was reportedly due to managerial and promotional issues.
Soro's other meaningful bouts have been a knockout win over Glen Tapia and a competitive draw against Antoine Douglas.
He has been unbeaten in his last 11 bouts.
Saldivia (45-4, 35 KOs) had won his last four bouts in a row since being stopped by Kell Brook in the third round in October of 2012. It was Saldivia's fifth fight outside of his native Argentina.
Also in action on the card was former interim middleweight world titleholder Hassan N'Dam (34-2, 20 KOs). He stopped Tomasz Gargula in the seventh of an eight round super middleweight bout.
Gargula was down in the seventh round and the fight was finally stopped in the seventh after the referee had seen enough damage being dished out. N'Dam is currently taking part in the Rio Olympic Games.
N'Dam has won his last three bouts after dropping a 12 round unanimous decision to hard-hitting David Lemieux.
