Angel "Memo" Heredia, the strength and conditioning coach of former four division champion Juan Manuel Marquez (56-7-1, 40 KOs), believes his client's recent injury will not jeopardize a planned ring return in August.

As previously reported, Marquez suffered a bicep injury during his ongoing training camp with head coach Nacho Beristain.

Marquez has been inactive since May of 2014, when he won a twelve round unanimous decision over former champion Mike Alvarado at The Forum in Los Angeles.

At 43-years-old, Marquez has been pushing himself in the gym with an eye to have at least two fights this year.

His comeback was postponed countless times due to a lingering knee issue, but so far the knee has given him no trouble in camp.

Marquez's physician has advised him that the bicep injury will take 2 to 3 weeks to fully heal up.

During the rehabilitation period, the boxer will continue working in the gym to keep himself in shape.

"When Marquez told me about the injury, I said that I thought it was something muscular. When it is something muscular the body recovers fast, there are many ways to recover," said Heredia to ESPN Deportes.

"Juan calmed down, I told him it was not going to be a tendon or a shoulder problem. He did the corresponding studies and exams, and with the care of Dr. Plutarco Gatica, who is an excellent doctor in sports, he will recover fast."

Heredia commented that he has asked Marquez not to stop working on his physical conditioning, but to take care of his left arm that resulted in the injury while hitting the bag in the Romanza gym in Mexico.

"The plan continues and we will continue to work. He will need two or three more weeks in rehabilitation - but he can keep moving without using that arm. He has been with Ernesto Salgado on the physical end, and he reassures me that I will have a comfortable margin to implement strength and speed," said Heredia.
