WBC minimumweight titleholder Melvin Jerusalem and challenger Yudai Shigeoka both successfully came in under the 105lbs limit for their Sunday title fight.
Jerusalem, 23-3 (12 KOs), checked in Saturday at 104.5lbs for his second defense of the title that he lifted a year ago from Shigeoka. Shigeoka, 9-1 (5 KOs), who is seeking to avenge his lone defeat, came in slightly lighter at 104.3lbs.
The fight will take place at Aichi Sky Expo in Nagoya, Japan.
Jerusalem, 31, of Manolo Fortich, Philippines, defeated Shigeoka by split decision last March to win the belt, and defended it successfully last September, shutting out Luis Castillo in his native country. Shigeoka, 27, of Tokyo, has since rebounded from the loss with a unanimous decision over Jerusalem’s compatriot Samuel Salva last August.
