Forbes has released their annual list for the world's highest paid athletes.

For several years, Floyd Mayweather Jr. dominated the number one position with his massive purses - especially when he signed the exclusive six fight deal with Showtime and began fighting twice per year.

Mayweather held the number one post in 2012, 2013, and 2015. In 2015, Mayweather blew away the competition with earnings of $300 million, and that year Manny Pacquiao had the number two position with $160 million in earnings. Of course, that was the year they took part in their mega-fight which drew over $600 million in revenue and 4.6 million buys on pay-per-view.

For the second straight year, soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has claimed the top spot with earnings of $93 million. Basketball star Lebron James took the number two spot with $86.2 million.

As far as combat sports, UFC superstar Conor McGregor picked up $34 million - sitting in the 24th position on Forbes' top 100. He received $27 million in earnings and $7 million in sponsorships.

Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez had the highest position for a boxer at number 43, with winnings of $28.5 million - with $27 million in earnings and $1.5 in endorsements.

IBF, IBO, WBA heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua came in at number 89. He picked up $22 million, with $18.5 million in earnings and $3.5 million in endorsements.

And the only other boxer on the top 100, was former heavyweight division ruler Wladimir Klitschko - at number 98. He picked up $21.5 million, with $17.5 million in earnings and $4 million in endorsements.
