UFC superstar Conor McGregor is still pushing the idea that a rematch will take place with five division world champion Floyd Mayweather.
Mayweather snapped a two-year retirement back in August of 2017, when he stopped McGregor in the tenth round of a cross-sport boxing match from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
In the aftermath, Mayweather retired from the sport.
Their fight generated a mountain of revenue, with the second highest pay-per-view buyrate in history. Over 4 million fans purchased the event.
McGregor started well in the early rounds, before Mayweather began to take over and break him down for the inevitable TKO win.
When he reflected on his stunning defeat, McGregor claimed that he prepared for a defensive Mayweather - but instead he was fooled when Mayweather threw defense out the window and instead came forward, letting his hands go.
There have been hints by Mayweather of a rematch with McGregor in the future.
McGregor recently rewatched the fight and aims to get the rematch down the line.
"It was a great contest, just watched it back!," McGregor stated.
"Early rounds all mine, and even later rounds when legs where gone, I still outlanded him. I received my credit from many notable names in the boxing world, which I was thankful for. None more so than from Mike [Tyson]. Excited for part 2."
Tyson recently praised McGregor for that performance, in what was the MMA's fighter's boxing debut.
It is the final part of that tweet that has sparked excitement among McGregor's followers.
"Listen, [McGregor] never really had a boxing match in his life. He went 10 rounds with the greatest fighter in the last hundred years of boxing. He went 10 rounds, scoring punches," Tyson said.
"Did he accomplish something? Look what he had to fight against, and look at what he did when he fought against him."
