Bob Bennett, Executive Director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, says the very best officials will be selected to work May 2nd mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas. Mayweather-Pacquiao is going to easily become the most lucrative fight in boxing history and it's going to be interesting as to which judges/referee are selected.

“I’ve spent the last three weeks putting the lists together,” Bennett told the Las Vegas Review Journal. “We’re going to select the best of the best. We’re going to look for officials who are experienced and are experienced in working big fights, particularly in Las Vegas. We know the entire world is going to be watching so there’s added stress involved.”

The paper says Bennett will make his recommendations to the commission on April 21 and the commissioners will have the final say as to who works the fight. Bennett will talk to both camps before he finalizes his list.

Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions, denied rumors that his side was against the appointment of Kenny Bayless or Tony Weeks as the referee.

“We never said we didn’t want Kenny Bayless,” Ellerbe said. “We have no problem with Kenny Bayless. And we have no problem with Tony Weeks. They are two of the best referees in the world. We have complete faith that the Nevada Commission will get the best people possible."
