The flamboyant Floyd Mayweather Jr. was in the news again and this time for negative reasons. In the last few weeks, the undefeated pound-for-pound king has received mostly positive press with his recent string of donations to various charities.

Early today, the fighter known as "Money" took to his Twitter account and took a swipe at New York Knicks sensation Jeremy Lin.  Lin, who recently took over as the starting point guard for the New York Knicks, has taken the NBA by storm with what is arguably the greatest run for a first time starter in NBA history.

Mayweather Tweeted, "Jeremy Lin is a good player but all the hype is because he's Asian. Black players do what he does every night and don't get the same praise."

Lin was raised in Northern California by Taiwanese immigrants.  He is one of the few Harvard graduates to ever step on the hardwood in an NBA uniform. Needless to say most of the Twitter responses have denounced Mayweather for making the comment pertaining to Lin and some have even labeled his comment as being racist.

In the past, Mayweather has been recorded burning money in nightclubs and also made an infamous Ustream video in which he made racially motivated comments towards fellow pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao. Mayweather later apologized for the Pacquiao comments.

Mayweather returns to the ring on May 5th against WBA 154-pound champion Miguel Cotto at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
