In an earlier article that was published on BoxingScene.com, British superstar Amir Khan made a bold claim that Floyd Mayweather Sr., father and trainer of WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., admitted during a one-time training session that his son would lose if they ever stepped in the ring against each other.

Khan returns on Friday night in a Spike TV televised fight, headlining a Premier Boxing Champions card, against former WBO junior welterweight champion Chris Algieri at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

If Khan is successful on Friday, he would become a frontrunner to face Mayweather in his claimed retirement fight on September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

“I would cause him big problems. Floyd Senior has every respect for me. When he trained me one time, he said 'you'll be the guy to beat my son'. Now he's turning around and saying I would be no contest for his son, I'm no good," Khan said.

His claim about the comments made by Mayweather Sr. are now being disputed - by the trainer himself. Mayweather Sr. says the British star is fabricating the conversation.

"I never ever said that he could beat my son. I never ever have said that any man alive could beat my son. Amir Khan has a glass jaw. He's not good enough, nor is anybody on the planet good enough to beat my son. He just wants to get a payday before it's all over with. That's the only way he'll be able to live comfortable like he wants to live. If he's going to continue telling lies, keep in mind, that's how lawsuits happen," Mayweather Sr. told Ben Thompson of FightHype.com.
