Floyd Mayweather Sr., father and trainer of retired pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr., is tipping WBO junior welterweight champion Terence Crawford as having a significant chance to defeat eight division champion Manny Pacquiao.
Crawford, WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley and British star Amir Khan are the three fighters in the running for a crack at Pacquiao. The two frontrunners, according to Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank, are Crawford and Khan.
Mayweather Sr. is siding with Pacquiao over Khan. He feels Khan's chin is going to play a big role if they ever meet in the ring.
"I think Crawford can beat Pacquiao. Amir Khan’s got a glass jaw, if you look at him too long, he’s gonna fall down. We’ll see, but if Pacquiao hits Amir Khan good, Amir Khan’s gone," Mayweather Sr. told On The Ropes Boxing Radio.
The upcoming fight, slated for the early part of 2016, is going to be the final bout of Pacquiao's career. When he looks back in the coming years and reflects on Pacquiao's career, Floyd Sr. will always remember the Filipino star as the guy who chased Mayweather.
"I’ll look at him like a man that was chasing Floyd for years to fight, a fight that was an easy fight for Floyd. I told everybody that the fight was easy. I don’t care how long they waited, when the fight took place, Floyd did what he said he was gonna do and I don’t think nobody was wrong in this situation for picking Floyd," Mayweather Sr. said.
