WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (47-0, 26KOs) feels very confident as his training camp continues at the Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas. Mayweather will have the home court advantage when he faces WBO champion Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Mayweather has studied Pacquiao and feels the Filipino star makes many mistakes in the ring. But Pacquiao is the only eight division world champion in boxing history and the second highest paid fighter in the sport. Mayweather points out that a fight can make many mistakes in the ring and still very successful.
The undefeated fighter wants to neutralize Pacquiao's best assets and then break him down as the fight plays out. In more than a few fights, Mayweather has given away the early rounds while figuring a fighter out. Once he has them sized up, the fight usually goes downhill for the opponent.
"A lot of guys do a lot of things wrong, but they are still successful," Mayweather said to Mlive.com . "So I want to know what he does right, so I can take that away from him, so I can take that arsenal away from him. What I do, when I'm facing a guy, whatever he does good, I take that away from him, so he has to resort to doing something different."
"I just want to look good for myself. I want to look very impressive. I'm pretty sure he's going to bring his A-game, and it's all about excitement. I got here somehow, some way. He's a solid competitor, but very reckless, and he makes a lot of mistakes. But he's been successful. Remember what I said -- you've got guys that make a lot of mistakes but still are successful."
