LAS VEGAS, NV - BoxingScene.com and other members of the media were on hand at the Mayweather Boxing Club where Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Tenshin Nasukawa formally announced their three round boxing exhibition that will take place on December 31st at the Saitama Prefecture Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. Rizin Fighting Federation will promote the event in association with One Entertainment and One Entertainment.

Mayweather hasn't fought since he stopped UFC star Conor McGregor in August, 2017. He announced his retirement from the sport in the aftermath.

That hasn't kept Mayweather's name out of the news.  WBC/WBA middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez was recently asked about a rematch with the former pound-for-pound king.  Mayweather outpointed him in 2013 when Canelo was only 23 years old.

Canelo said that he learned a lot from the fight and that he welcomed a rematch and said that a rematch would go a lot differently now that he has more experience in big fights.  He also said that a rematch would have to happen at 160 pounds which would be a major obstacle considering Mayweather gave away a lot of size in his fights that he contested at 154 pounds.

The Mexican star recently signed an 11 fight deal worth reportedly at least $365 million which is said to be the biggest contract in combat sports.

Mayweather took Canelo's comments in stride and doesn't believe that Canelo's deal is comparable with what he has done in the sport.

"He had his chance. He is supposed to call me out. I think he got a big deal. They say it[s the biggest deal in boxing history. I know in my deal that I have with Showtime I think in just 3 fights I made $750 million - so to me that sounds like the biggest deal," Mayweather explained.
