Five division world champion Floyd Mayweather is skeptical about a report claiming Conor McGregor got knocked out by his sparring partner during a recent training session.

At least that's what he's saying about Jessie Vargas' recent statements claiming McGregor got knocked out in his ongoing training camp.

"My thing basically is like this: If I ain’t seen no footage, I don’t believe it," Mayweather said to Fighthype.com "Me and Jessie Vargas are in communication. We’re talking about working together with Mayweather Promotions. I would love to work with Jessie Vargas. We’ve been communicating. But I can’t—everything is rumors until I see it. I’m the type of person, I have to visually see it with my own eyes."

The story went viral after a video featuring Vargas emerged, in which the two division world champ claimed The Notorious had been knocked out in sparring.

While Vargas never actually revealed the culprit, the two fighters rumored to have done the deed were British MMA fighter Bradley Wheeler and former champion Brandon Rios.

The rumours were disputed by McGregor's team, who issued a statement to Gareth Davies of  Telegraph Sport, stating that neither Rios nor Wheeler have sparred with McGregor - "The guy mentioned by Jessie Vargas is Brandon Rios, not Brad Wheeler. Neither have sparred with Conor."

McGregor is currently in deep training for the scheduled fight against Mayweather, which will take place on August 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The pair finished their four-day promotional tour on Friday with a heated exchange at Wembley where McGregor referred to Mayweather as a 'stupid, baldy t***'.

Last week, the two athletes traded heated words on a four city, three country promotional tour which drew over 50,000 fans between the four stops, with appearances in Los Angeles, New York City, Toronto in Canada and a final stop in London to finish things off.
