Floyd “Money” Mayweather and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will square off September 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV in not just the biggest fight of the year, but one of the biggest fight in the sports history.

Mayweather will venture north of the Welterweight limit for the third time in his career and while many might think he’s at a size and strength disadvantage, Shane Mosley actually told BoxingScene in a prior interview that he felt Alvarez and Mayweather had similar punching power.

BoxingScene caught up with Mayweather and asked him if after hearing Mosley’s comment, if he felt his power is sometimes underrated.

“It’s not that. I think once Floyd Mayweather faces a fighter and they come out, the first round is always the feel out round. The second round is kind of a feel out round. But once they see I start dominating, I think fighters go into survival mode. I think they go into survival mode just so they can say when the history books are written, they can say "you know what, he didn't knock me out. I went the distance with Floyd Mayweather and he's one of the best" Mayweather would tell BoxingScene.

Even when Mayweather dominates a fight for 12 rounds, it isn’t enough for the undefeated champion as he prefers to have that cherry on top; the knockout. He wasn’t able to deliver it in his last fight but he will definitely go for it again against Alvarez.

“In the Robert Guerrero fight I was looking for the knockout but I hurt my hand in the fight in the 8th or 9th round.  I wasn't impressed with myself because I didn't get the knockout but this time around, I'm looking for the knockout” said Mayweather.

Up until now, there has been no solution to defeat Floyd but at his training camp in Big Bear, CA, Alvarez was very confident that he knew the remedy and would show it to the world on September 14th. It’s an all too familiar statement that Mayweather has heard one too many times. Floyd was asked if he felt Alvarez would bring anything to the table he hasn’t seen in 17 years.

“Absolutely not. Everybody says they have the remedy but my remedy is just to be smart and win so we’ll see September 14th”.
