BoxingScene.com was on hand for WBA junior middleweight champion Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr.'s media workout that took place earlier this week inside of the Mayweather Boxing Club. The 5 division champion spoke on a variety of topics including his upcoming showdown against 23-year-old Saul "Canelo" Alvarez that will be broadcast September 14th on Showtime pay-per-view.

Alvarez (42-0-1) will be 13 years younger than Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0) when the two undefeated fighters face each other inside of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mayweather's previous three opponents (Robert Guerrero, Miguel Cotto and Victor Ortiz) were all significantly younger than the 36-year-old Mayweather as well.
Mayweather said that he likes facing younger fighters like Alvarez because it is a great way to test his own abilities and it helps keep him on top of his game.
"It is always about testing yourself and pushing yourself to the limit, and competing against young, strong, hungry lions. When I fight a guy who is extremely young they say Mayweather has more experience," Mayweather told BoxingScene.com while adding that no matter who he fights, critics will always find something wrong with his opponents.
"If I fight a guy close to my age they say the guy is over the hill. If I fight a guy who comes up from a lower weight class they say he is to small so the only thing I can do is beat the guys in front of me and rack up the victories," Mayweather concluded.
