Last week, Danny Garcia finally vacated the junior welterweight title of the World Boxing Council (WBC). Garcia has not defended the title since early 2014 and his last two fights took place at a catch-weight above the 140-pound limit. His next fight, against Paulie Malignaggi, is also going to take place at a weight limit in the welterweight range.

Following Garcia's decision, the sanctioning organization ordered 31-year-old Ukrainian Viktor Postol (27-0, 11KOs) and former WBC interim-champion, 32-year-old Argentinian Lucas Matthysse (37-3, 34KOs), to battle for the vacant belt.

Postol has been waiting for a very long time to get a shot at that title and his manger, Vadim Kornilov, says the negotiations have already begun for a fall meeting between the two fighters.

"Finally, Garcia has refused to defend the title. The title was not being kept active," said Vadim. "The negotiations for the fight have already begun, and I think that we'll see the fight in the fall in the United States, Postol and Matthysse going for the WBC world title."
