Lucas Matthysse’s quest to prove he’s the best Junior Welterweight in the world continues as he’s taking on a very tough assignment in Lamont Peterson. The winner will continue on in the unofficial 140 pound tourney as there will be much more clarity as to who the best really is.

While titles won’t be on the line, it’s always a great when the best fight the best and that’s exactly what we are going to see this Saturday. When Matthysse was on the most recent edition of BoxingScene Radio, he was asked if he felt Peterson was the toughest fight of his career.

“He's a good boxer and he boxes very well. But I think Devon Alexander was the most complicated fighter I've fought due to his movement and good boxing skills. I also respect Peterson as a boxer but I think Alexander was [a bit better]. But regardless I respect him and his boxing but I'm coming to win and to put on a great fight” said Matthysse.

When Peterson was on BoxingScene Radio a week ago, he expressed that he would be willing to go toe to toe with Matthysse which made people even more excited for the bout. For Matthysse, he actually hopes Lamont meets him the center of the ring and decides to exchange.

“He's a good boxer and moves well in the ring. I'm going to come out and do my work and always look to make the fight and look for the win. I hope he stands and trades punches with me because I'm more than willing and I think he is too” said Matthysse.
Matthysse is already considered by many to be the best fighter in the division but he feels fights like the one against Peterson will speak for itself.

“It’s a very important fight. A lot of people say I'm the best but Lamont Peterson is a good fighter and he's part of the four best fighters of the division. So for me this is a very important fight and winning this fight in good fashion will give me a bigger name and it’s important to show I'm the best,” Matthysse would tell BoxingScene Radio.
