BoxingScene.com recently reported that undefeated Mexican prospect Saul Alvarez might face Britain’s Matthew Hatton on the Floyd Mayweather-Shane Mosley undercard in Las Vegas on the 1st of May.

BoxingScene.com spoke exclusively with Matthew Hatton about the chances of this fight happening.  “My good friend Robert Diaz from Golden Boy mentioned the fight to me but I’ve had that many big fights mentioned to me like Zab Judah and [Julio Caesar] Chavez Jr that have fallen through so when I have these big fights mentioned to me now I just keep them to myself,” revealed Hatton.

Hatton, who won a keep busy fight on Friday night against Mikheil Khutsishvili of Georgia, admits that Alvarez is an unknown quantity to him but would jump at the chance of fighting a top prospect on such a momentous card.

“I don’t know too much about him but I have seen glimpses of him on YouTube.  He is very big in Mexico and I’ve told them I’m up for the fight so we’ll wait for them to get back to me and see what we can come up with,” explained Hatton.

“I’ll fight anybody, Alvarez is 30-0 at 19 years of age and you can’t turn down opportunities to fight on massive bills like Mayweather-Mosley.  They [Golden Boy Promotions] know I’m up for it so we’ll just wait and see what the outcome is,” revealed the 38-4-2 (15) boxer.
