Former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez (55-6-1, 40KOs) has disregarded a fifth fight with Manny Pacquiao and says Timothy Bradley (29-2, 12KOs) and Brandon Rios (31-0-1, 23KOs) are the two possibilities at the top of his list. Bradley will defend his WBO title against Ruslan Provodnikov on Saturday in California, and Rios will face Mike Alvarado in a rematch on March 30th in Las Vegas. One boxer Marquez says he will never fight is WBC 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (41-0-1, 30KOs). Marquez and Canelo have traded words in the past, but the Mexican star says 154 is too much weight for his body.
"In April I will decide if I plan to continue in boxing or if I'm going to retire. I definitely will not go against Saúl Álvarez. I will not fight him because it is a lot of weight to go up to super welterweight and on the day of the fight Canelo would be a middleweight. Also, he has a difficult fight ahead with Austin Trout and he has to break some stones to prove his merit. Now I might fight against Brandon Rios or Timothy Bradley, but I will make a decision on this situation in April and later I will chat with promoters Bob Arum and Fernando Beltrán," Marquez said.
