Former three time welterweight champ Antonio Margarito is promising to shock the critics on November 13 when fights Manny Pacquiao for the vacant WBC 154-pound title. The "Tijuana Tornado" wants to make a statement after learning that some betting establishments have him as high as a 7-1 underdog. He is dedicated to avenging all of the Mexican fighters that Pacquiao has beaten by knocking out the Filipino at Cowboys Stadium.
"I know that a lot of people do not think I can beat him and a lot of them didn't believe that I would beat Cotto, but I don't know if you remember what happened - I beat Cotto! And therefore, I am confident that on November 13 it's going to be the biggest night for Mexican boxing," Margarito told Sal Rodriguez.
Margarito, who was only a 3-1 underdog when he knocked out Cotto in 2008, continues to map out the strategy with his trainer Robert Garcia. They both are counting on constant pressure to break Pacquiao down. After looking at numerous tapes of the Filipino's fights, they are confident the strategy will pay off.
"I'm better than ever, and always working on the strategy. I'm going to put a lot of pressure on him. I've been watching some videos and the majority of [the opponents] have had the wrong strategy. You have to keep throwing back," Margarito said.
