Antonio Margarito is still sitting out while his lawyers are fighting to reinstate his license but that hasn't stopped him from thinking about a possible jump in weight. Margarito had his license revoked back in February. A plaster-like substance was found in his handwraps about thirty-minutes before he stepped in the ring with Shane Mosley for their fight on January 24 and the California State Athletic Commission found him liable.

On the dreaded night of the wraps, Mosley dominated Margarito and went on to stop him. There were rumors that Margarito struggled to make the welterweight limit. The question was posed to him about a possible move to 154. Margarito has been thinking about a move in weight and Sergio Martinez, the WBC champion, is the fight he would want. Margarito handed Martinez his only loss back in 2000, with a seven round stoppage.

"Yes I have contemplated to a move to super welterweight. I think that wouldn't be a bad idea because I have the stature and pwoer to fight in that division, and besides - it would represent a new challenge for me to win a title at another weight," Margarito told BoxNoticias.  "In that division there is a champion who only has one loss and that loss is to me. Clearly I would grant him the rematch and it would be a very interesting fight."

He is a champion and I am a former champion, and all of the ingredients there with me already winning and now the rematch. I have many goals in mind and I am working with more intensity to achieve them. I know that with effort and discipline I will contend again in those big fights. I want to be champion again at welterweight and later to set some other goals."
