Former world champion Marcos Maidana (35-5, 31KOs) is not even thinking about boxing at this moment and has no idea if he will ever fight again.

There was talk of Maidana coming back in the fall. Those plans were ruled out a few weeks ago, when the boxer took a pass at traveling over to the United States to begin training camp. He's put on a considerable amount of weight during his layoff and several months of hard work in the gym will be necessary to get him back in top physical condition.

Most of Maidana's family members are urging him to stay away from the ring and retire.

"I feel very good. I am calm. This time away [from the ring] and the rest has helped me. I have still not made a decision [on whether or not I will fight again], but I've done everything I could in boxing," Maidana stated during a radio interview in Argentina.

"My mother, my lady and my sisters do not want me to fight again. But my father asked me to do one more. I don't know if I'm going to return and fight again... I am doing very well and right now I'm not even thinking about boxing."
