Former champion Marcos Maidana (35-5, 31KOs) is looking at a ring return on a date in August or September, according to his adviser Sebastian Contursi. In an interview with Argentina daily El Litoral, Contursi said Maidana would be back on a date in the fall and there potential opponents were named - Danny Garcia, Keith Thurman and Andre Berto - in that order of possibilities.
Philadelphia's Garcia holds a undefeated record of 29 wins (17 KOs) and fights in New York on April 11, against Lamont Peterson non-title match. Although both are champions at 140-pounds, they are colliding a few pounds above the limit.
WBA 'regular' welterweight champion, Keith Thurman (25-0-, 21 KOs) is coming off a March decision win over veteran Robert Guerrero. And Andre Berto (30-3, 23 KOs) has regained some steam in his career with a knockout of Joseito Lopez in six rounds on the 13th of March to capture the WBA's interim title at 147-pounds.
Maidana is coming back from a big year, where he lost twice, both by twelve round decision, against the man most regard as the top pound-for-pound fighter in the sport, Floyd Mayweather Jr. The two pay-per-view appearances gave Maidana a lot of exposure.
