BoxingScene.com and other reporters recently caught up with Hall of Famer Marco Antonio Barrera to get the Mexican legend's opinion on a handful of upcoming fights.

The first fight mentioned was the August 26th boxing meets MMA clash between former pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. and UFC superstar Conor McGregor.

Many people feel that if Mayweather doesn't win by knockout it will be a black eye for the sport because McGregor doesn't have any professional boxing experience. Barrera doesn't agree with that opinion.

"No, because so many people already know that Mayweather is going to win. There might be pressure but it would be easy for Mayweather to knock him out because McGregor is from a different sport and isn't a boxer," Barrera told BoxingScene.com.

The former three-division champion doesn't expect the fight to be very competitive but doesn't have a problem with it because the fight will generate a lot of money.

During the four city promotion for the fight Mayweather and McGregor hurled several insults at each other.  Barrera didn't take any of it seriously and believes that the fans enjoyed it.

"Why not? It is a show. It was funny and the people like it. My kid's liked it too," Barrera explained.

WBC lightweight champion Mikey Garcia returns to action this weekend against former four-division champion Adrien Broner.  Garcia will be moving up to 140 pounds for the fight and Barrera thinks that if Garcia boxes carefully, he should come out with a victory.

"That is a tough fight. I like Mikey Garcia. If he has a good plan like (Miguel) Berchelt (against Takashi Miura) - don't throw too many punches and move around and box - then he should win," Barrera explained.

On September 16th all eyes in the boxing world will be on the pay-per-view showdown between former champion and Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and WBC/WBA/IBF/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin.  The fight has been brewing for last the few years and will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Barrera believes Canelo, like Garcia, must fight a disciplined fight and if he is able to do it then he can pull off the upset victory.

"You know that I am Mexican so I want Canelo to win the fight. He is fast and he has the strategy to win the fight because if you remember the fight Danny Jacobs did against Triple G he moved a lot and did good," said Barrera.
