WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (32-4, 7KOs) is looking to punish WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner (26-0, 22KOs), who moves up by two weight divisions to face Paulie on June 22nd at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Malignaggi has displayed better power at 147-pounds and stopped two of his five opponents at the weight. Prior to moving to welterweight in 2010, Malignaggi had not scored a TKO win since 2002. He expects Broner to suffer the same kind of punishment at 147.
"If you look at my opponents they all get their ass beat don't they? I mean do they all not wind up looking like their face went through a window at the end of the fight, especially recently? I don't see why Adrien Broner's face is going to look different at the end of the fight. He will wind up looking like they put his face in a blender when I'm done with him. Whatever it is. It depends on him. It depends how bad he wants to win. I'm not going to tell you that I'm going to sit here and knock him out in one punch, but he's going to feel a lot of punishment on next Saturday night. We'll see how bad he really wants it. He talks like he wants it so bad. We'll you're going to go through a lot of pain in a situation where he's not even going to win so in the end he may just tell himself it's not worth it and he'll just quit," Malignaggi said.
