Former WBC cruiserweight champion Mairis Briedis is in full training for a fight on the undercard of the Usyk-Gassiev unification, which takes place on July 21 in Moscow.

However, there´s also a contractual dispute with manager Al Siesta, who states that Briedis doesn´t - "in theory" - have a license to fight due to a suspension for breach of contract.

Raimond Zeps, representing Briedis, wrote in an email to this reporter that there is no "breach of contract" as there is no contract. The opponent for July 21 has not been announced.

German former world champ, World Boxing Super Series participant and trainer Juergen Braehmer is now out as challenger for the EU title but is instead official challenger for the EBU super middleweight title.

The champion, Robin Krasniqi, was previously stopped by Braehmer in a WBA (regular) world title fight but have since, like Braehmer, dropped down to super middleweight and is lined up for a voluntary defence on October 27 so a second showdown between these two appears to have to wait a little.

As for the EU title Spaniard Ronny Landeata will fight an opponent to be confirmed August 25 in Malaga.

German heavyweight Alexander Dimitrenko is now out as official challenger for the EBU title held by Agit Kabayel as he will fight Bryant Jennings on August 18 in Atlantic City.

As for who will replace Dimitrenko as official challenger is an open question. Of the top five Tony Bellew and former EU titleholder Otto Wallin are available while the others are occupied elsewhere. # 6 is Dereck Chisora, who will fight Carlos Takam # 4, while # 7 Robert Helenius, currently nursing an injured hand, could also enter the picture.
