Junior welterweight contender Marcos Maidana (29-2, 27 KOs) is planning to take a lot of his anger out on Erik Morales (51-6, 35KOs) when they step in the ring on April 16 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Maidana is angry with the outcome of last December's fight with WBA 140-pound champion Amir Khan. Maidana was very close to stopping Khan in the tenth round, but the champion was able to survive and won a twelve round unanimous decision at the Mandalay Bay.
Maidana was not looking to fight Morales. He says the former three division champion asked for the fight. Morales was going to face Juan Manuel Marquez, who withdrew to explore his options. Maidana is planning to do what most experts are predicting. He expects to break Morales down with pressure.
"I'm proud to be here facing Erik Morales. Beating a legend like him would help me build myself up to where I want to be. I have a lot of anger in me. I want to knock out my opponent. It's what a have to do. I don't think he will be able to withstand my pressure. I didn't ask for the fight, Morales did and I accepted," Maidana said.
