According to Russian promoter Vladimir Hryunov, Alexander Ustinov will face WBA interim-heavyweight champion Luis Ortiz on September 17th in Las Vegas, as part of the HBO Pay-Per-View card for former two division world champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.

The winner of Ortiz-Ustinov will take on the winner of the July 9th showdown between WBA 'super' heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and Wladimir Klitschko at the Manchester Arena.

Ortiz has a record of 25 wins (22 by KO) and no losses, and Ustinov has a tally of 33 wins (24 by KO) and one defeat.

"The fight will take place on the 17th of September in Las Vegas for the interim-championship of the WBA. Alexander will soon begin training for the fight, and it's going to be staged in the United States," said Hryunov.

The details of Canelo's return is still being worked out. Golden Boy Promotions, who handled both Canelo and Ortiz, have placed a hold on the MGM Grand for the above mentioned September date.

Canelo was in action last month when he knocked out Amir Khan in the sixth round at the T-Mobile Arena. Golden Boy is speaking with Golden Boy about the possibility of Canelo facing WBC/IBO/IBF/WBA middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin. Most expect that fight to take place in 2017.

Two of the names prominently mentioned to face Canelo in the fall are WBO junior middleweight champion Liam Smith and former IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux. Smith's promoter Frank Warren says discussions have taken place for a potential Canelo meeting. Lemieux is also promoted by Golden Boy and was featured in the co-featured bout on the Canelo vs. Khan Pay-Per-View.
