Former world bantamweight champion Luis 'Pantera' Nery will not train with Eddy Reynoso as he planned to do a few weeks ago. He will now train with renowned coach Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, California.
Nery is scheduled to return to the ring on November 23 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Nery, who is 24-years-old and 30-0 with 24 knockouts, is coming back from knocking out former champion Juan Carlos Payano in nine rounds on July 20 in the chief-support of the evening to the welterweight showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Keith Thurman at the MGM Grand Garden Arena
A few weeks ago, after having broken up with his previous team, Nery and his team took on the task of finding a new path, and the first option at the time was Mexican coach Eddy Reynoso, who is training in California with Canelo Álvarez, Óscar Valdez and Ryan García.
However, they gave Nery a second option and decided to go with Freddie Roach, who currently trains Mexican Olympic fighters Joselito Velázquez and Raúl Curiel.
Nery is one of the most feared boxers at his weight class and he's moving past some of the issues that he suffered last year with making weight.
On that card on November 23, the event will be headlined by a heavyweight showdown between WBC world champion Deontay 'Bronze Bomber' Wilder and Cuba's Luis 'King Kong' Ortiz, and also Leo Santa Cruz will look for another world championship when he takes on Mexico's Miguel 'Michoacano' Flores with the vacant super featherweight world title of the World Boxing Association.
