According to RDS, Groupe Yvon Michel (GYM) have reserved the Videotron Centre in Quebec on April 2nd to stage a big event which would feature former IBF super middleweight world champion Lucian Bute in the main event.
The event would also feature bouts with undefeated light hevayweight contender Eleider Alvarez and Artur Beterbiev. All three fighters are advised by Al Haymon.
Bute (32-3, 25 KOs) has not fought since he lost a twelve round decision last November to IBF super middleweight champion James DeGale. Bute looked very good in the contest and some felt the last time he looked that good was prior to his knockout loss to Carl Froch from several years ago.
Alvarez (19-0, 10 KOs) has also inactive since he beat Isaac Chilemba in a WBC final eliminator to get a mandatory shot at WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson. That fight took place last November on the Bute-DeGale undercard.
Although negotiations for a unification between Stevenson and Sergey Kovalev broke down last week, promoter Yvon Michel said he was eager to place Alvarez in one more fight before finalizing a title bout with Stevenson - who Michel also promotes.
Beterbiev (9-0, 9 KOs) has been away from the ring since his knockout victory over Alexander Johnson last June in Chicago. After suffering a shoulder injury, he was forced to undergo in October and he's already quickly returned to work in the gym. His trainer Marc Ramsay said recently that his protege is ahead of his two-week rehabilitation program and the end of March or early April he was going to make a return.
No opponents have been officially mentioned for the trio of Quebec boxers.
