Laila Ali, retired former champion and daughter of heavyweight legend Muhammad Ali, says the undefeated record of Floyd Mayweather Jr. is not enough to be considered "The Best Ever."
Lailia's father often called himself "The Greatest.” Over the last few years, Mayweather has called himself "The Best Ever" or "TBE" for short.
In some of his interviews prior to the recent fight with Manny Pacquiao, Mayweather made it clear that nobody would be able to change his belief on being better than Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson.
When Floyd explained his position why he felt he was better than Ali, he detailed Ali's career, loss to Leon Spinks, and win over George Foreman.
“No one can ever brainwash me to make me believe that Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali was better than me. No one could ever brainwash me and tell me that,” Mayweather said to Stephen Smith.
"[Ali] only fought in one weight class. Leon Spinks only had seven fights. [You would] never put a fighter in there with Floyd Mayweather with seven fights. Take punishment and let a man tire yourself out from beating you? You hit him with a few punches and go down and quit and you want to be glorified for that?"
Laila was asked about Mayweather's firm stance that he's "The Best Ever."
"I think that it is understandable why he would feel that way about himself, because technically he has a lot in his arsenal," said Laila to the NY Daily News. "But when it comes to greatness it takes a whole lot more than just being undefeated."
