WBO cruiserweight champion Krzysztof Glowacki (26-0, 16 KOs), who had recently defended his title for the very first time, against American veteran Steve “USS” Cunningham, is ready for more action even if it means a not-so-easy journey to neighboring Ukraine for a dangerous fight against a one-time Olympic heavyweight gold medalist.

“I know (Oleksandr) Usyk is a good fighter, an Olympic champion. After Klitschko’s recent departure from the boxing Olympus, he is ready to take his place. This can be a great fight for the fans”, stated the undefeated Pole, who captured his title with a sensational road kayo of long-time 200lb champion Marco Huck in the best boxing match of 2015.

“I’m ready to fight Usyk in Kiev”, added Glowacki. “I’m awaiting this collision with a great desire."

Earlier, Glowacki’s handlers stated that his collision with the WBO #1 rated cruiserweight would take place either in Poland or in the States. It has also been reported that K2 Ukraine offered the champion no less than 350,000 USD to take this fight in a seaport of Oddessa, also Ukraine.

Oleksandr Usyk (9-0, 9 KOs), 29, was an integral part of the Golden Ukrainian Squad (GUS), which captured five gold medals at 2011 Baku world championship (one got by Usyk) and added two more during 2012 London Olympics (Usyk was accompanied by pound-for-pound boxer Vasyl Lomachenko).

As a pro, the Ukrainian has stopped all nine of his opponents (three of them – in 2015). He is now rated #1 by the WBO, #5 by the WBC, #9 by the WBO, and #12 by the IBF.

Usyk is the mandatory challenger to Glowacki’s title. Negotiations between two teams are under way but if there’s no agreement by May 18th, a purse bid will be conducted with 300 000 USD being a minimal purse.
