According to Manny Pacquiao's adviser, Michael Koncz, undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. brushed aside an offer of $50 million to face the Filipino WBO welterweight champion. Koncz claims that a country outside of the United States made a massive offer of $100 million to stage the contest. Under a previously agreed 50-50 split, Mayweather would have received half of that money. During the last few months, groups located in South Africa and within several countries in the Middle East have been contacting Pacquiao's promoter, Top Rank, with big offers to stage the Mayweather fight.
"A country that I won't name offered us $100 million to bring the Mayweather fight there," he told ABS-CBS News. "So we, in turn, offered $50 million to Mayweather as a guarantee. If the pay-per-view comes in higher, Manny and Mayweather would make more. He refused the $50 million… It means he doesn't want to fight Manny at this point in his career. Very simple."
