Wladimir Klitschko (64-4, 53 KOs) is promising to close the door on the ongoing world title reign of Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs).
Last November in Dusseldorf, Germany, Fury stunned the boxing world when he won a twelve round unanimous decision over Klitschko to capture the IBO/IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight titles.
Since winning the belts, Fury became an overnight sensation for the local and overseas newspapers - with his controversial comments on politics, sexual orientation and colorful remarks about his rivals and celebrities.
The two are scheduled to trade punches for a second time on July 9th at the Manchester Arena in Manchester. This time around it is Fury who has the homefield advantage.
Klitschko is a bit upset that he never let his hands go in the first fight, which allowed Fury to outbox him to a win. It was Klitschko's first defeat in over a decade and he plans to make things right next month.
He's very angry with some of Fury's controversial comments and believes t he only way to shut him up is to end his title reign for good. Of course Klitschko's career is on the line as well. A second defeat in a row for Klitschko, now 40-year-old, would likely end his professional career.
The heavyweight division has been turned upside down since Fury won the titles. He was stripped of the IBF title for failing to face his mandatory challenger Czar Glazkov. The vacant title was won by Charles Martin who in April quickly lost it when knocked out by Anthony Joshua in two rounds.
Fury has done a lot of talking in the buildup to the rematch and it seems to be making Klitschko get agitated with some of the commentary being thrown in his direction.
"The fact that I’m giving a guy like Fury a platform bothers me. I will end his reign on July 9 making it one of the shorter in the history of the heavyweight division," Klitschko told his fans.
