Former world light-welterweight champion Amir Khan has revealed that he is still yet to hear from Lamont Peterson regarding his promised rematch opportunity in the wake of losing his IBF and WBA titles to the American earlier this month.

The 25 year-old, who is contesting the result of the fight after being docked points for pushing, wants to get the return announced as soon as possible as he attempts to regain the belts he lost in Washington D.C before moving on to welterweight.

“The fight has put me back three months because I want to get the win against Lamont Peterson and that will put me back where I want to be,” Khan told BBC Sport.

“After the fight, he did say he would take a rematch. The first fight was a close fight even with the points taken away from me and I really think I won the fight still.

Khan then revealed he has been studying tapes the fight in the wake of his second loss as his forthcoming appeal over the result is set to be heard on January 18th; “I have watched the fight about five times and I just can’t get over the referee being on his side. He warned him nineteen times about the head and just never took a point off him.

“He warned me four times about pushing and pushing is allowed in boxing. In the rulebook it says that you can’t take points away for pushing.

“You know, I am going to put that behind me and I want to settle the score by having a rematch. I won’t go back to Washington. I was up against the referee who was from Washington and two of the judges who were from Washington.

“I think this time we want to fight somewhere neutral, maybe Vegas would be a great venue. I am happy to fight him in April or May, that’s when I want to fight next. I have put the fight to him and they have not responded back so let’s see what happens.”

Peterson, 27, intends to wait until the New Year before his sits down and discusses what is reported to be a $1million offer to meet Khan in Las Vegas this spring. ‘Havoc’ believes he has what it takes to win the return more convincingly and it is thought that he is willing to accept Khan’s offer to fight in mid-2012.
