Bolton star Amir Khan (31-4, 19 KOs) is still very much interested in the idea of fighting domestic rival Kell Brook (36-2, 25 KOs).
But Khan believes the two of them need several victories in order to make their fight even bigger. The two former world champions suffered stoppage defeats in their last ring outings.
Brook is recovering from a fractured orbital bone, which he sustained during his TKO defeat at the hands of Errol Spence back in May. Khan has been out of the ring since suffering a knockout loss at the hands of Saul "Canelo" Alvarez back in May of 2016. Khan then underwent surgery for a longtime hand injury and has not fought since.
Brook took to social media made it clear that he still wanted to get Khan in the ring to do damage.
"I want to get in there and beat Queen Khan up," Brook said at an App Empire UK event. "We all want to see me stood over him, saying, 'listen, I told you. I told you.' We want to make that fight happen. We all want to see it. I want to smash him."
Khan has interest - if they both get themselves situated with some victories.
"For me and Kell Brook at the moment, I think the fight could be bigger if we both get a couple of wins," Khan exclusively told Sky Sports. "If we get a couple of wins, I think it will be a massive fight. It will be a big fight now, but it will be a massive fight if we wait maybe another fight. One hundred percent, I would love that fight."
Khan still feels very fresh, at age 30, and wants to return to the ring before the year is out - preferably a date in December. If it's possible, Khan wants his next fight to take place on UK soil.
"A lot has happened in my life, with personal issues and family drama and everything, with the hand operation," said Khan. "I think it's time now where I come back and I shine. I'm only 30 years old. People forget how old I am. I'm at the peak of my career now.
"I can't wait to get back into the ring and I want to fight December time. I think the next fight might have to be in the UK. My home is England and I'm a British fighter. I want to fight in front of my fans in the UK."
