Amir Khan (33-4, 20 KOs) believes a fight with domestic rival Kell Brook (37-2, 26 KOs) will indeed happen - after both parties agreed on the weight clause.

Earlier this year, the fight anticipated fight appeared to take a big step forward when Khan signed a multi-fight deal with promoter Eddie Hearn, who also handles Brook.

The showdown would not happen until some point in 2019.

Khan wanted to return in the fall, but his next fight appears to be more likely for February, says Hearn.

The Bolton boxer saw action twice in 2018, after winning a twelve round decision over Samuel Vargas last month in Birmingham. Brook has been out of the ring since March, when he stopped Sergei Rabchenko in two rounds. He was scheduled to fight again a few months later, but withdrew with a training injury.

With Brook heading up to junior middleweight and Khan standing firm on a welterweight limit for their match, things appears to be in line for a potential clash after Brook agreed to move back to 147 to make a deal happen.

"Obviously me and Brook are with Eddie Hearn," said Khan to Sky Sports. "I've left that to Eddie to do all the negotiations, to speak to both parties, to speak to his trainer, his manager, himself.

"But look, it's a fight I would love to have, and I think it would make a lot of money financially for both fighters, but at the same time it would be a massive fight in the UK. It's a fight that the fans want. Why not make it happen?

"Nothing can stop it. He's agreed to be 147, and also have a rehydration clause of 10 pounds. I'm happy with that. If he's happy to take that, so am I. That fight can happen then 147 it is, and we're with the same promotional team, so that makes the fight even easier. Let's see what happens."
