Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs) is not going to back away from his pursuit of WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26KOs)
Khan had been hoping to get a crack at Mayweather on September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. But his hopes were dashed earlier this week when Mayweather announced that former champion Andre Berto would be the next opponent on Showtime Pay-Per-View.
Khan was also passed over last year, twice, when Mayweather faced Marcos Maidana in back to back pay-per-view bouts.
Mayweather claims the next fight will be the last of his pro career, but Khan refuses to believe that. He expects Mayweather to fight again in 2016.
"It’s very frustrating. I’m still going to chase my dream and I think that fight could still happen. If it doesn’t, then it means Mayweather is very scared and he knows he’ll get beat. We know that he’s a great fighter, I’m not taking that away from him, but I really think that he’s afraid and he knows that Amir Khan’s movement is explosive and his fitness is going to be too much for him. Mayweather has one fight left and he doesn’t want to end his whole career on a low note," Khan told Time Out Dubai.
