WBC silver welterweight champion Amir Khan (29-3, 19 KOs) is prepared to face his domestic rival Kell Brook (32-0, 22 KOs) - if Brook is able to beat IBF champion Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15 KOs) in the fall. If Brook walks away with the victory, then Khan says the circumstances would be right for them to face each other within a year's time.
Brook, and his promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom, have tried to secure a fight with Khan for the last twelve months. Khan believes Brook has a padded record with no respectable wins, but a victory over Porter would change that viewpoint.
"At the moment, no, he (Brook) isn’t on the agenda,” Khan told the Sheffield Star. “He has his hands full with Shawn Porter but if he wins then he could definitely be an opponent in the future. Kell has to prove himself first. He has to do that against someone credible.
“I can actually see him not even taking the fight (with Porter) but if he does then fair play, I take my hat off to him and wish him all the best. If he wins then it’s worth me and him getting inside the ring at some point within a year.”
