WBA/IBF junior welterweight champion Amir Khan has cleared the air about some of his statements that were originally published, and later distributed, by Sky Sports. The British outlet quoted Khan as stating "Floyd Mayweather has agreed to fight me." During a recent roundtable with the media, Khan denied making that statement, and said nobody, including Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, has ever told him that Mayweather agreed to a fight in 2012.

Before Khan can even think about a Mayweather fight, he needs to beat mandatory challenger Lamont Peterson on December 10th in Washington, DC.

"Someone tweeted me about that. Whatever, that fight is in the future. It's good to have goals and ambitions. Floyd Mayweather never said yes. He never said yes. I don't think he wants to talk about boxing. I think it would be stupid for me to look past this fight [with Peterson]," Khan said.
