Former WBC heavyweight title challenger Kevin Johnson is ready to take on David’s Price and Haye after he takes the United Kingdom by storm at the upcoming Prizefighter event on June 20th in London.
The 32 year-old took Vitali Klitschko the full twelve rounds in December 2009 and has since stopped three out of four opponents inside schedule. The American's form leads him confidently into the eight-man tournament at the York Hall next month and up against the likes of Tom Dallas and Kali Meehan.
“Prizefighter brings a great challenge for me,” Johnson told World Boxing News.
“I've been working on taking guys out in the opening rounds. I've been focusing on that and 95% of people who face me have been eating the dirt since my defeat to Vitali.
“Winning Prizefighter and knocking out all these guys will push my name to the top even more and I will be the heavyweight champ in the future.”
Johnson, who boasts 12 stoppages in 26 outings, hopes that a win in the Sky Sports televised event will enhance his reputation sufficiently to pit him against former world champion David Haye or undefeated British champion David Price later this year.
“I am look forward to Haye v Chisora and fighting the ‘Hayemaker’ when he beats up his rival.
“I would also love to beat the hell out of David Price. He is nothing but another walk in the park before I get my title and you can ask Alex Leapai (Johnson’s last opponent, who was stopped in nine rounds) what I mean!
“I plan to make the most of a very busy summer overseas and I look forward to beating the hell out of whoever tries to stands in ‘The Kingpin’s’ way!" announced 6ft 3ins Johnson.
