IBF welterweight champion Kermit Cintron (27-1, 25KOs) will look to become the first fighter to knock out three-division champion Shane Mosley (43-4, 37KOs) if the two fighters are able to reach an agreement to meet on February 10, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. The deal is not final and there are a few things that have to be agreed upon for the fight to happen.
Mosley has been campaigning at the junior middleweight division for the last year, but moves back down in weight to challenge Cintron. The fight will be showcased by HBO if it happens to come off. In an interview conducted with promoter Bobby Bostick a few months ago, he told BoxingScene that his fighter has been waiting for one of the big names to come calling and is fully capable of knocking out any of top names at the welterweight level.
The bout with Mosley would be Cintron's first defense of the IBF welterweight title.
