Shawn Porter (26-1-1, 16KOs) and his father/trainer Kenny were naturally upset when the news broke that there March 12th high profile showdown against Keith Thurman would be delayed. The delay was caused by Thurman (26-0, 22KOs) being injured in an automobile accident.

BoxingScene.com caught up with Kenny to get his take on the recently announced rescheduling of the fight. A few days ago, Showtime announced the new date of June 25th at a venue that will be announced shortly.

When asked if we had a message to send to Thurman, Kenny replied - "My only message is that I am a fan of fast cars. I had a Mustang and I got a Corvette. I am scared to go into 6th gear. I don't even mess with 5 very much. Just slow down and be safe.

"Like I said l, I love Keith Thurman. I am a Keith Thurman fan. I got mad props and respect for everything he can do in the ring except fight night. I am the number fan of Shawn Porter on fight night. Just get healthy and lets do this."

The elder Porter not only predicts an entertaining scrap but also believes there will be a sequel before the end of the year.

"It is going to be a great fight and let's do this another time. We are going to do it again. We are going to fight Keith Thurman two times this year," Porter told BoxingScene.com.
