According to an announcement by Promociones del Pueblo, former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (48-2-1, 32KOs) will make his return on July 18th against Marcos Reyes (33-2, 24KOs). The fight will be televised by Televisa in Mexico. The TV outlet in the United States is unknown.

After more than a year off, Chavez Jr. returned to the ring last month and was stopped by top light heavyweight contender Andrzej Fonfara in nine rounds. The fight with Reyes is going to take place at super middleweight. Chavez admitted after his last fight that a move to 175-pounds, after being a middleweight for most of his career, was a big mistake.

Reyes lost a ten round majority decision last year to Abie Han and came back in January to win a decision over countryman David Lopez.

As far as the venue, Houston, San Antonio and El Paso are all in the running to host the event.

Chavez's last fight took place on Showtime. He might return to the network or appear on a Premier Boxing Champions card. His adviser Al Haymon has television deals with NBC, CBS/Showtime, Spike TV and ESPN/ABC.
