Former champion Juan Manuel Lopez (30-1, 27KOs) is hoping the rematch with Orlando Salido will happen before the end of the year. On Saturday night in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Lopez was shocked in eight rounds when Salido stopped him. Salido picked up Juanma's WBO featherweight title and according a recent story on BoxingScene.com the Mexican boxer is planning to make his first defense on Mexican soil in July.

For months there were numerous stories on BoxingScene regarding Juanma's pre-fight weight issues. In January several photos appeared on BoxingScene where Juanma had the appearance of being very overweight. His promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank, confirms the Puerto Rican star was close to 180 or 190-pounds in December.

Lopez hopes to have the rematch in the fall, because he needs to move up. The plan to head to 130 was always in the cards for 2012.

"Hopefully it will be an immediate rematch," Lopez said. "Definitely I'm going to move up to 130-pounds and I was always going to do that next year, but first we hope to make the rematch. Arum and Peter [Rivera] will be responsible for that."
