Former champion Juan Manuel "Juanma" Lopez (31-1, 28KOs) is already starting to train and prepare himself for a possible rematch with Mexico's Orlando Salido, who stopped Juanma to capture the WBO's featherweight title on April 16 in Bayamon. During Top Rank's recent trip to New York for Miguel Cotto-Antonio Margarito pay-per-view, the company CEO Bob Arum sat down with Showtime to discuss an official date for the fight. Juanma expects a date in February or March.
"We are expecting the people of Showtime to give Arum an official date, in February or March, to fight a rematch with Salido in Puerto Rico. Showtime and HBO are interested, but apparently Shotwime [is the highest bidder] because I did the first fight with them and they want the rematch. I already started running and doing some weights. Next week we start a full camp," Juanma told Esteban Pagan.
