Former world champion Juan Manuel Marquez is not ready to discuss a potential fight with IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook. The champion's promoter, Eddie Hearn, recently told BoxingScene.com that he wants to make a fight with Marquez in early 2015.
Marquez is still undecided on whether or not he intends to continue his pro career. The boxer is going to make a final decision in January to February. Marquez (56-7-1, 40 KOs) vs. Brook (33-0, 22 KOs) would targeted for the UK, said Hearn. The former four division champion of Mexico is still interested in going for a fifth divisional title.
"I've said that in January to mid-February I'll let [my promoters] know if my body is ready to go," said Juan Manuel. "All of the risks in the ring, life, health.. al of that is very important to take into account. I stay motivated, inspired - if I wasn't then I would have announced my retirement, but I think if I get to that fifth title it would be great, but if it does not happen I'm comfortable with what I have achieved what I have done with my legacy in boxing."
