According to a source with knowledge of the details, we could very well see a battle of former champions between Juan Manuel 'Juanma' Lopez (34-3, 31KOs) of Puerto Rico and Jorge Arce (63-7-2, 48KOs) of Mexico.

Both fighters were in action this month, scoring knockout wins. Juanma stopped Daniel Ponce De Leon in the second round of their rematch, and Arce knocked out Aldimar Santos in five.

After their respective fights, both boxers expressed an interest in facing each other.

There is some talk of having a doubleheader on June 14, in Mexico or Puerto Rico, with both boxers in separate fights. And if both of them come out victorious, they would tentatively meet in September. A date of September 5 at Arena Mexico has been kicked around.

However, there is also the possibility of Arce chasing down a shot at WBC featherweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez. Their promoters have discussed the possibility of staging this fight, but they are far away from a deal and there is a TV issue, as Arce fights on Azteca and Gonzalez on rival network Televisa.
