According to Inter News Service, a trial judge found cause to arrest junior middleweight contender Jorge "The Destroyer" Melendez for driving under the influence. The boxer is alleged to have been driving while intoxicated, not having a driver's license, using violence, using intimidation and resisting against public authority.

Judge Elmer Rodriguez set a bail of five thousand dollars, and he must appear on a court date of January 9 at the Court of First Instance in Bayamon.

Judge Rodriguez set a date where Melendez (28-4-1, 26KOs) has to answer allegations for violence or intimidation against public authority, resisting or obstructing public authority under the criminal code, driving under the influence of alcoholic beverages and not possessing a valid driver's license.
