The Irish Independant reports that veteran Jim Rock (28-4, 9KOs) may possibly face undefeated John Duddy (19-0, 15KOs). Rock, a popular veteran in Ireland, would love to upset Duddy, a young Irish fighter who is making a lot of noise in America. The fight is worth a lot more money in Ireland, and that is exactly where promoters are looking to stage the event.

Selling out American arenas has made Duddy a fighter in high demand. Rock is crossing his fingers for the proposed meeting to come off.

"I might be meeting John Duddy, the undefeated Derry middleweight who has become something of a sensation in American rings with 19 straight wins. June 30 in Dublin has been suggested by his people but I've heard nothing official," Rock said.

"Anyhow, I don't think Duddy is unbeatable. Sure, he's up-and-coming and he's 27, eight years younger than me. But I watched his recent fight on TV when he stopped Anthony Bonsante in nine rounds at Madison Square Garden and noticed that he gets hit quite a lot going back. Every time Bonsante drove him back, he was able to catch Duddy with overhand rights. I don't really know if this June fight will come off, but I would be up for it. We'll see."
