Former world champion Jhonny Gonzalez showed he is ready to compete for a world title by easily knocking out Francisco Contreras in three rounds, in the main event from Gimnasio Municipal "Jose Neri Santos" in Chihuahua, Mexico.
Gonzalez, owner of a refined technique and had a great preparation for the bout, used his experience of 73 fights to overcome his opponent, who tried to surprise the him in the early rounds.
Gonzalez landed the best punches throughout the fight and his deadly punching power opened the door for victory number 63, with 53 of them by way of knockout, in exchange for 10 defeats. While the Dominican fighter dropped his record to 35 wins, 23 KOs, and this is his sixth loss.
In the co-featured fight of the night, Lourdes "La Pequeña Lulú" Juárez boxed her way to a wide unanimous decision over local fighter Karina "La Bella" Fernandez, who were in an explosive fight that stood up to the expectations by the fans.
"La Pequeña Lulú" Juárez, who had the support of her charismatic and more experienced sister Mariana "La Barby" Juárez, showed her advances in this sport from where she began three years ago as a professional. She declared herself ready for new challenges in her career, seeking to follow in the footsteps of her older sister by winning a world title.
At the end of the fight, the three official judges gave her the win with scores of 98-92, 98-92 and 100-90.
In the fight that opened the Televisa broadcast on Saturday, Karim "Traviesito" Arce retained his quality by staying undefeated with a unanimous decision over Alonso Ronquillo Chihuahua - bringing his undefeated record to 10 in the paid ranks.
In other action on the card, Sinaloan boxer Roberto "Llantero" Acosta picked up a unanimous decision over local fighter Carlos "Kalim" Guzman over eight rounds in the super bantamweight division.
